Congratulations to Senior Carah Johnson - Carah is competing for the title of "Miss Teen Pennsylvania." Carah is one of the top 50 finalists and, if selected, will go on to national competition. Secondary Science Teachers Meeting At NC - North Catholic is pleased to host a Genetics Seminar for science teachers in the Diocesan Secondary schools. The "Learning, Research and Development Center" from the University of Pittsburgh will present a program regarding the modelling, activities and teaching of genetics. Many thanks to NC faculty members Pam Connolly and Laura Ploughe, who have been involved with the "Research Experience For Teachers" program for several years and have cultivated a wonderful relationship with the University of Pittsburgh.

Juniors and Seniors View Cardiac Surgery - NC 11th and 12th grade students in the Advanced Placement Biology course recently had the opportunity to see a real cardiac surgery. 15 students took a trip to Allegheny General Hospital to be a part of this wonderful learning experience. Sitting in the surgical gallery, the students were able to interact with the surgeon and ask questions about the procedure. NC is proud and pleased to be in partnership with WPAHS Health System, so that we can offer these types of opportunities for our students.

NC Student Addresses PA House Democratic Policy Committee - Senior Sean Berger will be testifying before the PA House Democratic Policy Committee neeting at the University of Pittsburgh. This public hearing is with Rep, Jake Wheatly and will discuss the EITC tax credits and school choice. Sean has the honor of being the ONLY STUDENT to speak at this hearing. Congratulations to Sean!
